5.12.100 Inspections.

It is hereby made the duty of the town marshal, acting with the assistance of a person who shall be designated, approved and certified by the board of trustees, to inspect periodically each taxicab licensed under this chapter; the inspection shall test and ascertain whether the taxicab’s general and mechanical condition is such as to render its operation reasonably safe, shall check the condition and accuracy of the taximeter or odometer and the timing devices and speedometers of each taxicab. The town marshal shall, in addition, spot check periodically, at reasonable times, individual cabs for the above conditions. If any violations of this chapter are discovered, the town marshal shall seize the individual taxicab license certificate of the taxicab in violation, pursuant to Section 5.12.090 of this chapter.
