Each member of the police force, while on duty, is directed to question any such minors suspected of violating this chapter and to take into custody any minor person so found to be violating same and thereupon to take the minor person to his or her place of residence and thereupon determine the name of the parent, guardian or other person having the legal custody of, or the employer of, the minor person.
