Chapter 9.56 SMOKING IN THEATERS AND CONCERT HALLS
9.56.090 Fire protection measures.
All decorative materials used as the interior finish of every place of
assembly shall comply with the A.I.A. codes. All floor coverings shall comply
with the requirements of class A or class B stated in A.I.A. Life Safety Code
1970, No. 101. A factory certification or testing laboratory certification
reporting the flame spread shall be provided for the bureau of fire prevention
files. To secure maximum precautions against fire, the standards of adequacy to
be applied shall be the sections of the A.I.A. Life Safety Code applicable
thereto. The chief of the bureau of fire prevention may modify the provisions of
A.I.A., No. 101 when the requirements would be clearly impractical, but only
when reasonable life safety against the hazards of fire, explosion and panic is
provided and maintained. (Ord. 483 § 9, 1972).
