Chapter 9.56 SMOKING IN THEATERS AND CONCERT HALLS
9.56.160 Assembly seating areas.
Smoking shall not be permitted at any time, except in buildings built
expressly to accommodate smoking areas. Smoking areas shall be equipped with a
suitable exhaust system, properly fire dampered, to remove the smoke, heat and
gases to the exterior of the building. The area shall be segregated from the
remaining seating area by an aisle way or row seating space or its equivalent.
Each seat shall be provided with a suitable ash tray in a convenient location.
Each seat shall be completely constructed of noncombustible materials. Every
smoking area shall be specifically designated by a sufficient number of
electrically illuminated “SMOKING AREA” signs that are plainly
visible. (Ord. 483 § 16, 1972).
