Chapter 10.28 ENFORCEMENT
10.28.020 Payment of fines.
Any person receiving written notice of a traffic violation pursuant to the
provisions of this chapter may appear in person at the office of the
clerk-treasurer within seventy-two hours from the date of the violation and pay
the prescribed penalty in compromise of such violation, or such person within
such time may mail such fine with the written notice to the clerk-treasurer.
The penalties which shall be payable in compromise of the violations of this
title shall be in the following amounts:
(1) Fifty dollars per violation of
Chapter 10.12;
(2) Fifteen dollars per violation of Chapter
10.08;
(3) Twenty--five dollars per violation of Chapter
10.20;
(4) Seventy-five dollars per violation of Section 10.24.030(4), (5)
& (6); fifteen dollars per violation of any other section of this
chapter.
(5) Twenty-five dollars per violation of Chapter
10.16;
(6) Fifty dollars per any parking violation in a tow-away zone;
and
(7) Twenty dollars per violation of any other section of this
title.
If any person receiving notice of violation fails to compromise such
violation, the arresting police officer shall prepare or cause to be prepared a
proper affidavit for the arrest of such violator. Any such person who fails to
compromise such violation, upon conviction of the offense charged, shall be
liable for a fine in the amount of ten dollars for each violation in addition to
the penalties provided for herein, plus costs, except for that violations in
Chapters 10.08 and 10.24, the total fine shall not be less than twenty dollars
nor more than thirty dollars, plus costs. The arresting police officer may cause
any vehicle parked in violation of any provision of Chapters 10.04 through 10.24
to be removed to a private garage or place where the same shall be impounded and
detained. Such vehicle shall be released only upon order of the town’s
chief of police or his deputy after payment of the fine required by this chapter
to be paid in compromise of such violation and all costs of towing an storage.
