The Speedway police department is designated as the public agency responsible for Bureau of Motor Vehicles notification, notice, removal, storage and disposal of abandoned vehicles, in accordance with the provisions of IC 9-22-1-1 et seq., as amended, and shall establish policies and procedures for carrying out this responsibility. The police department may contract with private towing firms or individuals in such business for the removal, storage and disposition of abandoned vehicles and parts in conformity with the provisions of IC 9-22-1-1 et seq.
